Sellers description:
Very decent and rare (with left-hand drive and factory sunroof) 1960 Jaguar Mark IX Salon. The car does run and the trans seems to operate good. Has the inline Jaguar 6 cylinder engine. The engine sounds good. The tires are in very poor condition, so I have only driven the car around the parking lot. The tires are holding air. The brakes do function, but must be pumped to work. It may need a master cylinder kit. The car is very complete. I don't know of anything missing. The doors, windows, and trunk with dual handles open and shut fine. The hood latch is tempermental. The telescoping steering wheel works. The headlights and taillights come on. The oil pressure and temp gauges work. I think the speedo works OK, but haven't driven the car fast enough to really tell. I have both outside door mirrors and they are in good shape. The bumpers are in decent condition as is the car's stainless trim. Glass is good. There is lower body rust and rocker area rust. The underside is really fairly good. The frame looks very solid.
The interior is in pretty good shape. The seats are very good. They were redone by a previous owner. The door panels are good. Windows operate. The headliner has staining. Most of the walnut veneers will need attention.
There is restoration to be done for sure, but this 1960 Jaguar Mark IX is a very good one to start with and will be a real gem when done. Do a little at a time or all at once and cruise in English Luxury and Style.
