This late-era Mark 2 was first registered in December 1966. It’s notable for its quartet of front lights and four wingmirrors, adorning a bonnet which also features a Leaping Cat badge and lashings of chromework. Underneath the bonnet, the 3.8-litre engine has covered less than 24,000 miles, having been treated to a rebuild in the 1990s with Cosworth high-compression pistons. The car has travelled very few miles since then, and the original toolkit in the spare wheel well appears to have been barely used. 

With the odometer showing just 23,910 mile, vendor say this has gone around the clock once the interior retains its walnut-and-leather time-capsule status, with a two-spoke steering wheel ahead of period Lucas/Smiths dials and original switchgear including tactile toggle switches for lights and wipers. A Kenwood CD player is a rare modern addition, with discreet parcel shelf-mounted speakers. 

Unusually for a car approaching its seventh decade, this Mark 2 has had only three owners, with the current keeper having had it since the mid-1980s. It is in good order with some some fading across the striking red paintwork, which is not original but suits the car. The 16-inch chrome are not original wheels and could be swapped for the original 15-inch wheels, which have been rebuilt and powder coated.
