    Ebay item 9/2/13
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $15,000, no reserve, no bids 8 days left in auction, buy it now price $22,000..

    Sellers description:
This "Mountain Jag" has been pampered, stored in a climate controlled garage, and driven often, and only on nice days by the same finicky owner for over 15 years but the owner estimates he (and me!) have put less than 4,000 miles on it during this time. You are welcome to come see and inspect the car in person prior to bidding and I would recommend it in the interest of a worry free purchase.

I have personally known and driven this beautiful Jaguar many times over the years and it has appeared in local car shows. It has lots of smooth power, drives straight and true and has no wandering or pulling when braking. It is enormous fun to drive and people often stare and give you the "thumbs up" signal as you pass. Folks have even followed and stopped the owner to ask questions about it!

TO SEE VIDEOS OF THIS CAR RUNNING AND DRIVING please go to my YouTube channel. Do a search for user "DAKONTHEMOUNTAIN." Ebay does not allow me to post the links here.

This is a 1962 Jaguar MK II sedan with a professionally installed 302 Ford mustangV8 engine and C3 automatic transmission. Dual exhaust. It still has the beautiful original chrome Jaguar wire wheels, as well as four wheel Jaguar factory disc brakes and optional power assist steering. It comes with all books that were included with the car as new, including the original owner's manual, as well as a number of other instruction and service manuals for the Ford engine and drive train (see photos.) In addition, there are numerous extra parts that will come with the car, including many interior wood pieces, gauges, electronics, etc. Everything on the car works, including the heater, turn signals, aftermarket gauges, horn (button on the dash,) aftermarket Blaupunkt stereo, wipers, lights, etc. The tires are in great shape (around 3 years old according to the owner.) It has an updated electrical wiring, including a schematic of the ignition system and fuse box. No troublesome Lucas wiring!

This car is a fun, beautiful driver and the pictures don't do it justice. It's meant to drive and enjoy! The beautiful, glossy burgundy paint is almost flawless (repainted in 2000 the same color as when current owner purchased it.) Original color is unknown. Upholstery, including seats, carpet and headliner were all VERY tastefully redone and are in very good to excellent condition (replaced in 2000.) Most mechanical restoration was done prior to the current owner taking possession of the vehicle and all driving has been local mountain driving; and NEVER in rain or inclement weather. This beautiful MK II sports STUNNING gleaming, shiny RUST FREE CHROME , including badging, with only a couple of the very small turn signal light bezels having a bit of pitting, but you don't even see it. The bumpers and bumper guards were re-chromed in 2000 also. The trunk is clean and rust free, as is the undercarriage, frame, body and floor pans. What looks to be the original jack/jack handle is in the trunk. New weather stripping is on all doors and trunk and is in good, pliable condition, as is that around the windshield and back window (which was also replaced in 2000.)

Please remember this is not a new car and in the interest of full disclosure the following will need attention. There may be other items that we are not aware of, so this car is sold as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied. However I believe you will NOT be disappointed!

There appears to be a small transmission seal leak

The brakes need to be pumped one time to fully engage in power mode. They work and stop fine, but are hard to press on the first try, like manual brakes. According to The Hagerty Classic Car Price and information guide "....brakes can simply disappear if the car is left to sit for a month".... Car has sometimes sat in the garage for more than a month at a time during the winter (though started up and ran with the heater on, etc.) but I would hesitate driving it long distance and recommend trailering it down the mountain.

Inside the map pockets on the doors the vinyl backing is beginning to curl. You don't really see it, but I wanted to list it here.

The passenger side rear door quarter window latch does not stay tightly closed and the one on the driver side rear door is missing, though the owner says he does have it

One small piece of chrome trim is missing between the front and rear windows on the passenger side

    Clock does not work

The Hagerty Classic Car Price and Information Guide states this car is probably somewhere around the "3" level or higher, with a suggested retail price of $28,380. Given the above issues and the non-original powe rtrain we are starting the bidding at $15,000 with a buy it now of $22,000

This is a special car and the ford drive train makes it much easier and less expensive to maintain.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
