Car returned to auction 5/16

Auction description:
Lot number 56
Estimate £20,000 - £22,000
Description Jaguar MkII 3.8 Manual Overdrive
Registration ESJ 243
Year 1961
Colour Red
Engine size 3,800 cc
Chassis No. P217188BW
Engine No. LB3494-8
Documents V5C; MOT August 2016; invoices
First registered in December 1961, this 3.8 looks most eye-catching in red with chrome wire wheels and a red leather interior. An original right-hand drive car with overdrive, it was apparently exported to the sunny state of California quite early in its life and was to remain there until the 1990s, hence the good state of preservation today.
We are advised that the car was restored in 2010 with bills on file detailing the works carried out, more recent maintenance including a complete brake overhaul with new master cylinder etc, a new radiator and much work to the electrical system. Said by the vendor to be in very good condition all round it comes with an MOT until August 2016.

MoT exempt
Chassis number: P217188BW
3,781cc, manual. This Jaguar MK II saloon was exported to the USA when new. It's original colour was Carmen red with a red leather interior and was fitted with a factory sunroof. The car was brought back to the UK by it's English owner in 1989 when it was subject to restoration, eventually being UK registered in 1991. During the no expense spare restoration it was converted to right-hand drive and paired with a manual gearbox. There is lots of paperwork and receipts relating to the work. It was last MoT'd in 2020 at 6,328 miles. Described as driving very well indeed.
The history file contains V5, various MoTs, receipts and correspondence. Five owners since UK registration. The mileage is recorded at 6,452.
