First registered on 17th January 1967, this Mk 2 3.4 Automatic was purchased by the previous owner in July 1975 from a gentleman who had been a service engineer at Browns Lane. When acquired, the car had covered 51,500 miles, and over the winter of 1977/78, a full mechanical overhaul was embarked upon. During 1981, the coachwork received attention and was stripped and repaired as required before being refinished in the original shade of Golden Sand. Some years later the interior woodwork was French polished, new carpets of original quality were fitted and the red leather upholstery was renovated. The car was very carefully maintained whilst in the previous ownership, and in the last ten years the mileage covered has been extremely low. A very genuine example of this highly regarded model which would seem to have been meticulously cared for, the car is offered with a file of documentation including the service book, V5 document and current MOT certificate valid until May next year.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
