Lot No: 277

1961 Jaguar Mk2 3.4-Litre Saloon
Registration no. 3743 AT
Chassis no. 153458DN

Sold for £25,200 inclusive of Buyer's Premium

This particular 3.4-litre Mk2 is reported to have been treated to a complete 'ground upwards' rebuild in 1999-2001, including engine and bodywork, in the course of which it was upgraded with a Getrag five-speed manual gearbox and power assisted steering. New carpets were fitted, the interior re-upholstered, and the wood trim re-veneered as part of this refurbishment, which cost in excess of £26,000 (see bills on file). Finished in dark blue with Burgundy leather interior, '3743 AT' is offered with the aforementioned restoration records, Heritage Certificate, sundry expired MoTs, current MoT/tax and Swansea V5.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
