Great weekend drive or has obvious commercial potential
Classically finished in Old English White with burgundy cabin, this 1961 Mk2 2.4 is one of the best we've seen in a long while. Only a casual glance at the photos tells you all you need to know - flush panel fit, particularly across the door, excellent structure and a very well preserved interior. As Mk2 enthusiasts know, a poorly presented cabin may seem like a trifle, but it can equal the cost of body repairs to rectify issues with veneers and trim. This car presents no such issues.
We are told that this matching-numbers car has been extensively restored, at a cost approaching £100,000. The work has included a reconditioned engine, gearbox, retrimmed cabin and a full restoration of the bodywork. The paintwork was applied in 2024 so presents virtually 'as new.' 'Nut and bolt' is a much-overused term: here it is clearly correct.
With its compelling colour scheme, this car has obvious commercial potential. But, perhaps, with a car this good, the buyer will want to preserve it for themselves. This is unquestionably one of the most beautifully finished examples of the MK2 on the market - well worth your consideration.
The vendor says:

The quality of this car's mammoth restoration is obvious from the photos. The work was undertaken by well-regarded specialists Quest Brothers and included a full respray in Old English White in 2024 from the original red. It is a colour that suits the car well, accenting the bright chromework and combining well with the burgundy interior.
The renovation continued inside where the interior was extensively retrimmed, including attention to the extensive woodwork. This is expensive work, particularly when completed to the high standard you can see in the photos.
The car's very sparing use since completion means that the buyer gets the full benefit of all that investment.
