Car at auction 11/25
online.doningtonauctions.com.au/m/lot-details/index/catalog/262/lot/66971
Auction description:
1965 Jaguar Mark II 2.4 Saloon
Mechanically improved with a five-speed Toyota gearbox
From a private NSW Jaguar collection
Offered with No Reserve
Chassis No. 105832
Engine No. BG8096-8
Supplied with a history file covering the last ten years or so, this 1965 Mark II 2.4-litre was previously registered to owners in Victoria and there are receipts for substantial work carried out in this period, including specialists Mike Roddy Motors and V & A Spiteri. From this we can discern the Jaguar has undergone extensive cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment in recent years, including the brake and cooling systems, rust repairs to the front subframe and more.
Various upgrades were carried out including a Toyota five-speed manual gearbox, the brakes have ventilated front discs with four piston calipers and a VH40 brake booster. Other improvements including a thermo fan for improved cooling and an alternator for greater reliability.
Purchased by the late owner from well-known specialist dealers The Healey Factory in December 2021, the car looks to be in much the same condition today. Described by The Healey Factory as “the perfect base to further improve and build into your dream ‘60s touring car”, this may well have been the Late Owner’s intention and this Mark II’s potential is clear. The bodywork is generally straight with decent gaps and the white duco presentable enough, although there is some rust evident in the lower part of the right-hand passenger door and paint cracking at the base of the licence plate surround on the boot lid. The Jaguar’s interior on the other hand is very impressive, the bright red upholstery showing very little wear and the trim, carpets and headliner are all in good condition. We were unable to start the car due to a flat battery (which has been relocated to the boot) but are advised it has been started and run recently.
Showing 18,588 miles on the clock at the time of cataloguing, the Jaguar will be sold unregistered and with No Reserve. Please note the car is located in Berridale, NSW and must be collected on site by arrangement with Donington Auctions.
