Ebay item 9/12/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $1,884.59 reserve not met, 8 bids 3 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1959 Jaguar Mark 1. It was originally from Texas and was driven up to Boston in the 70s. The car belonged to one of my neighbors who is a minister in his 80's. He gave it to his son who had it the last few years and it was driven and insured up to this past year. I purchased it from him with the intention of restoring it, however, my son's college tuition takes priority.

The engine was rebuilt a number of years ago, and runs great. It does not burn, drip, smoke or make funny noises. it starts up easily and sounds great. You can just tell it wants to go. The body had some peeling paint and looked terrible. I had a friend who is an amateur car restorer and he helped me out with this car. He did all the work this past month. He stripped the paint,to the bear metal ( I have some pics, and can dig them up) and resprayed it with the correct paint. Old english white. he also then put several layers of clear coat. There were some dents, not really any rust, except on one spot on the drives side floor. They were repaired, the rust spot was cut out, and welded. The paint job looks good from afar, however, it does have some orange peel effect, and is not a show room car. However, this car can be a great work in progress. There was also a dent on the front right fender, so it was also repaired with bondo.

You should be able to work on this car and drive it. It does need some attention to the brakes. I think it is either a master cylinder, or the lines needs to be bleed. The pedal goes to the floor. That was a recent development. I do not think the lines are leaking for I see no drips. The car has over drive, and is a manual transmission. I have driven it today, however, it the clutch just started sticking. I think one of the springs is hung up on the clutch plate. I believe that these older cars are usually pretty easy to work on. I am a Clinical social worker by profession, i do not have that skill set, but just love these old cats. One of my friends who is a mechanic told me that he thought it just got hung up and needs an adjustment. He says that happens with these old cars. This car has always been inside and stored through out all the New England winters, and was never driven in bad weather. The interior is tired. The front red leather sets bottoms are done. The backs are actually remarkably good, and they are very cool buckets. You can just see Steve McQueen driving this car, wearing a turtle neck. The rear seat and bench is very good, needs a little sewing job on the top, just a seam, the leather is not ripped. the head liner looks decent. The wood is very very nice, and needs nothing, and is all there. all the glass is there. the front windshield has a slight crack, but can re repaired by a window pro. the others are all fine. all lenses covers are good, the lights all work, the interior lights work, the reading lights for the back seat work, one of the front headlights is dim, but works, all the directions signals works, brake lights etc. does not have any electrical issues, there is no radio, there is an ac unit that is in the trunk, but i believe is disconnected. carpets are beat in the car. i had an extra set of red carpeting from JC Whitney, so it was cut out to fit and just layed it. I left it unattacted in case the next owner wants to buy a set and put it. You can get a formed carpeting made of nylon for about $500 if you want. These is a guy in western Mass, who sells it. i found him in Hemmings. The chrome is all decent, some of the hub caps have some rust bubbles, but they are nice. Car has 3 extra new tires and mounted on jag rims. The fourth one is the spare. The current tires are the original michelens tires, they hold air, and you can drive it with them, but they are showing all the signs of old age. All in all, a very cool car, not a show car, with some minor stuff, it can be on the road immediately ( brakes and sticky clutch- it shifts and drives, but feels like the plate is hung up).
