Jaguar MK IX 1958 offered for sale as a project. We have had this Beauty running with oil pressure rising quickly but only via fuel in the intake for a short time, see video. Unfortunate events have led to this gracious car lovingly named Genevieve to remain in dry storage for some years, and is now offered to a keen enthusiast to once again return her back to the road. There are also a few boxes of spares to be included, as pictured.

1958 Mark IX Jaguar – named "Genevieve" - Family Car, Racing Car, Rally Car, Wedding Car

Mark IX Jaguars epitomise grace, space and pace as claimed by Jaguar themselves. Finished in old English white with red leather interior and walnut veneer wood trim, the mark IX were the largest Jaguar saloons produced during the 1950's. Genevieve was used as part of the fleet of vehicles for Genevieve Wedding Car Hire based in the south of the UK from 1987 until 2017. Genevieve was the first car in the fleet that was lovingly restored after being found in a barn in the late 1970's. As a family car first, she has a great story as reported in the local press in 1987. See Photos. Extract from article - Genevieve - A love story for every future bride. Woking Review, June 27, 1987.

"Genevieve's tale is one of a blossoming romance between herself and motor engineer Andrew Hollis that began twenty years ago when Andrew used to service the car. When she came up for sale Andrew jumped in with an offer and before long she was the family motor for the Hollis clan - Andrew, his wife, and their 3 children. Sadly, Genevieve was involved in an accident on a family holiday, and was dumped at the end of Andrews garden where sad and neglected she languished away for a number of years. Andrew however, became involved in the classic saloon car club racing and thought Genevieve might grace these meetings. Unfortunately as an official scrutineer, Andrew found he was disqualified from racing! This is when his thoughts turned to offering Genevieve as a carriage befitting beautiful brides. The neglected lady was rescued from her garden grave, transported - a sad and rusting heap - to Andrews garage. Where over two long years he performed his fairy godmother role transforming a miserable wreck into a shining white wonder". Having driven more than 400 weddings over the years she provided a great back drop to many happy couples special day.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
