Sellers description:
Beautiful MK2 driver which I would rate as a solid #3. We have owned this car since the mid-eighties and have had some wonderful times driving and showing it at various JCNA concours throughout the western states. We even brought home a trophy or two. From our base outside of Portland we have driven this car to shows in Sun Valley, Tahoe, Monterey, and Bend. We have taken it on rallies to the Olyimpic peninsula and into Canada. We've never been let down. Because we have kept it maintained by our local Jaguar expert the only problems we've had on the road have been flat tires! Mechanically this car is very good. All of the gauges work and she has excellent oil pressure and compression. The engine uses some oil so it needs to be checked regularlly. The power steering box leaks and while that does not affect the steering the leak should be fixed. Early in our ownership we had the transmission rebuilt. We have also had the carburetors rebuilt. The stated mileage is what the speedo says. It is not accurate and the actual mileage is unknown.
Cosmetically we have recently had a respray in Solent Blue metallic which is not a period color but is used on the XJ6. You will have to admit that it looks great!. I had a local shop straighten and re-chrome the front and rear bumpers and overriders and a shop in San Diego re-chromed the taillight and license plate plinths. The chrome trim is new from SNG Barratt. Even the leaper is new but the rear window finisher is missing. The interior is newer Saville grey leather with grey carpets. The carpets show wear but could be improved with professional cleaning. The headliner is intact but worn looking. The wood is re-done in a highly figured walnut veneer. I have mounted "Coombs-style" wheel spats for a sporty look. The original spats will go with the car. New radial tires on new chrome wire wheels complete the package.

Car to be at auction 8/10

Auction description:
Consignment # 7057
VIN: P213057BW
Offered for sale for the first time in nearly 25 years, this 1961 Jaguar Mark II has been the property of its Pacific Northwestern owner since that time. Long cared for by dedicated Jaguar Club of North America owners, the present vendor has always rigorously maintained the car having had it serviced at a Jaguar repair shop in the Portland area with regular Castrol oil changes and expert checks of all other mechanical aspects of the car. The transmission was rebuilt during the late-1980s and has shifted smoothly since that time.
During that time as well, the body had minor rust issues properly repaired and galvanized before a thorough trim and glass-out respray. The car's rear lamps and license plate plinths were re-chromed at this interval before being re-fitted to the car and S.N.G. Barratt-sourced new chrome trim replaced original parts as needed. To complement all of this exterior detail work, the original interior was comprehensively renewed with a kit from renowned Jaguar experts BAS Interiors, who cut their materials from factory patterns. As a result of this, the leather seat coverings, rugs and headliner have all been replaced. Experts in fine luxury car woodwork, Madeira Wood Concepts of California re-veneered and refinished all the woodwork inside as well.
For enhanced modern ride quality, this Mark II wears slightly-wider radial tires on new chrome rims. In order to compensate for the slightly-wider stance at the rear, a pair of restyled spats were made to avoid rubbing the edge of rear tires; however, if original-style tires are desired, the original spats convey with the car. The original tool kit, complete with most tools, comes with the car, as does the jack. A beautiful example of an eminently-drivable car built by hand nearly half a century ago, this Mark II remains poised to enjoy, show or add to any collection of fine automobiles.
