Car to be at auction 4/11

Auction description:
Sale 19465 - Les Grandes Marques à Monaco, 20 May 2011
Monaco
Lot No: 158
1961 Jaguar Mk2 3.8-Litre Saloon
Chassis no. P211845BW
Engine no. LA3439-8
This 3.8-litre Jaguar Mk2 was acquired by the current vendor in 2008 following extensive restoration in 2005 that included a repaint, mechanical overhaul, refurbishing the interior leather and woodwork, and fitting a stainless steel exhaust (bills and photographs available). Since 2008 the radiator has been overhauled and new coolant hoses fitted; the power steering pump's seals renewed; the rear brakes and brakes hoses overhauled; and the rear axle replaced as a result of damage caused by a worn half-shaft. The aforementioned servicing and repairs were carried out by AAPS in Nice.
The vendor advises us that the car exhibits no traces of corrosion and describes the engine and rare automatic gearbox as functioning without fault, the former idling steadily and accelerating strongly, with no signs of smoke. A new battery was fitted three years ago and the electrics are said to be in working order apart from the dashboard clock and the original radio. An Alpine radio/CD player is concealed within the glove compartment, while the speakers are mounted beneath the seats and are not visible. New tyres were fitted in 2010.
Finished in gunmetal grey metallic with red leather interior, the car is offered with the aforementioned restoration/service invoices, French Carte Grise de collection, Contrôle Technique and an instruction/maintenance/service manual in French. A pair of new front door locks is included in the sale.

Estimate: €25,000 - 35,000

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
