Ebay item 7/21/08 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-MK-2-MarkII-MkII-1967-JAGUAR-Mark2-rust-free-runs ...
Current bid $2,500, no reserve, 1 bid, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
This car is in unusual, virtually rust free condition. In fact, it is the best, rust free body I've seen in my nearly 40 years in the business! The car had been sitting in a dry, well ventilated barn since the 70's and hasn't seen any road salt ever!
It has all of the original driveline remaining including the original 3.8 liter engine, transmission, driveshaft and rear end. Frame matches the ID plate and a clear Pennsylvania title is on hand and goes with the car. This engine runs nice and smooth and the trans shifts fine with no slippage or hessitation. The brakes are working on all 4 wheels. The interior is all there but You'll need new carpets and seat upholstery. The wood is in nice shape and could be used as is, but a new coat of varnish would really bring it alive! All gauges are working properly and so are the lights. The problems I found are few: obviousely, the car needs to be painted, the seats need recovering and the carpeting should be replaced. The the left tail light lense is broke and the mufflers are gone, the hood doesn't line up right. Ignition switch isn't working (the lock's fine) and the tank needs to be flushed. However, tank is NOT RUSTY and does not leak! Just some old gas is left in it......You might have noticed notice that the tires are low. They do hold air for a few days and I drove the car on them! In fact, one of them is brand new! Of course, I have a clear title for this car. It should be mentioned that the title states it as a 1968 car, which most likely was caused by the car being sold & titled in that year (a 1967 left-over).
Also, YOU ARE WELCOME TO INSPECT THE CAR RIGHT HER IN KINGSTON, PA (Luzerne County) Just let me know a day or 2 in advance!
Bring your mechanic if you like!
THE VERDICT:
Considering the rarity and the rust free condition of this particular car, my buy it now price is not just fair, it's a give-away! However, I kept the starting bid slightly below. If you are looking for a easily restorable Mark 2 that doesn't need 200 hours of welding, this is her! I bought it for this very reason and I have looked near and far before I decided to purchase this one! A change in my personal situation forces the sale, otherwise, I'd finished this gem! She really is a very sound basis for a simple restoration!
