Car was at auction in '04
www.cheffins.co.uk/vintage/carsmotorcycles/catalogues/2004/041204cars/details.as ...

Auction description:
VINTAGE AND CLASSIC CARS, MOTORCYCLES AND AUTOMOBILIA SATURDAY 4TH DECEMBER 2004
Lot No 604
1969 Daimler V8 250 Saloon
Registration Number: LKH 58G
Chassis Number: P1K5271BW
Engine Number: 7K5356
This particular example is described by the vendor as being in good to very good overall condition. Finished in regency red with light grey leather upholstery, he believes it to have covered a mere 53,000 miles from new. Although, there is insufficient paperwork with the Daimler to authenticate this claim, the gentle patina to its interior goes some way to supporting it as does the fact that the saloon disappeared from the DVLA’s records for a while. A scenario that is consistent with a long period of dry storage. Only re-registered in November 1988, a surviving MOT certificate issued the following year shows an odometer reading of 29,469 miles. Regularly serviced throughout the 1990s by David King Automotive of London, a subsequent move to Buckinghamshire saw LKH 58G fettled by marque specialist Symonds Motor Engineers of High Wycombe. Given a suspension / steering overhaul by them last May, it has also lately benefited from new Hancook tyres all round. Starting readily and performing well on a recent test drive, it is offered for sale with V5 registration document, history file, owner’s handbook, MOT current until 24th June 2005 and historic class (free) road tax.
Estimate: £6,750-7,750 Result: £6300

Estimate: £7,000 - 9,000

Chassis number: P1K5271BW

One of ten cars offered from a private collection. Finished in Regency red with light grey leather interior, this car has been owned by the vendor's since 2010. The car was re‑registered in 1988 suggesting it had been subject to a period of storage when it disappeared from the DVLA's records. It's history file contains MoTs dating from 1989 to 2010 when last issued, copy V5's dating from 1988, handbook, 2004 bill of sale, various receipts and documents. Some recommissioning is required.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
