This car is offered from outside of the European Union. It has been imported under temporary admission customs bond and is therefore subject to Dutch import tax (9%) on top of the winning bid price. Cars less than 30 years old will pay 10% Dutch import tax plus 21% VAT on the hammer. If exporting immediately to another country, then tax/duty will only be paid in that country.
VIN: P1B75275BW.

This LHD auto 1966 Jaguar S Type 3.8-litre was, we think, shipped in 1988 from California to the Netherlands.

In 1998, it underwent a restoration that included, among other things, rebuilding the engine and replacing the gearbox.

In 2011 the car was purchased in Belgium for the vendor’s collection of static display cars.

It is showing 83,278 miles on its odometer.

In common with many vehicles from the vendor’s collection, the car comes with very little history and few service records, although it does have various old registration and other documents from both Belgium and the Netherlands.

We haven’t tried to start or drive the car and can therefore only comment on its cosmetic condition, which we believe to be good, overall.

On the Outside
The bodywork is mainly good and is largely free of any dinks, dents, creases or folds of any real consequence.

So, too, is the black paintwork.

The wire wheels look to be in decent order and the Webasto roof looks fine and opens and closes as it should.

There is a dent to the right of the headlamp on the driver’s side and the paint is crazed on top of both front wings, where you will also find a few stone chips.

There are a few scratches and scuffs on both driver’s side doors and the sills beneath them. There is some bubbling around the rear wheel arch on the same side.

The chrome trim is loose around the rear screen and there are a few small dinks and some pitting on the rear bumper.

On the passenger side there is bubbling around both wheel arches and at the base of the rear wing. There are a few scratches and scuffs on both doors on the same side.

There is a little superficial rust on the hinges of the pop-up tinted strip at the front of the Webasto roof opening.

The chrome trim around the rear driver’s side window looks a little bashed and bruised in places.

On the Inside
The interior is really very decent indeed and looks to be pretty authentic and original.

The red leather upholstery, particularly at the front, is heavily creased and has a few cracks and small holes here and there – but it’s by no means beyond salvage.

The seats are supportive, comfortable and functional, front and back.

The carpets and mats have also held up well (except for a section of carpet that’s hanging down in the passenger foot well), as have the door cards and headlining.

The wood veneers on the dashboard and door cappings are pretty good, although some lacquer is missing from the central, lower part of the fascia.

The rubber trim around the windows and doors is perished in several places.

The boot is in good order.

We can’t make any claims about the functionality of switches, knobs, levers, toggles, buttons, dials or other electrics as we haven’t tried to start or drive the vehicle.

Underneath
The engine and engine bay look fine and everything appears to be in its right and proper place.

The undersides, look to have plenty of structural integrity, as far as we can see.

History Highlights
This car comes with the history and service records shown in the documents section – but nothing else.

It must be registered in the country of your choice and you will need to contact the appropriate vehicle licensing agency for instructions on how to do this.

No documents shown in the gallery in any way constitute any kind of licensing or registration certification unless otherwise stated.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
