Sellers description:
1965 Daimler 2.5 V8 Salon
SURVIVOR ORIGINAL
35K Miles

Documentation back to England

VIN #P1A8663BW

CA since 1978

Never Hit Body

Original Chrome

Original Interior

Sat for 30 Years

Completed Sorted by 25 Year - Jaguar Mechanic

I am selling this wonderful Survivor Daimler for my good friend who has been a Jaguar Mechanic for over 25 years. These Daimler cars were built on Jaguar Mark 2 Chassis using the Daimler 2.5L V8 engine, which weighted 150 pounds lighter than the 6 Cylinder Jaguar engines of that period. These cars were recognizable by the characteristic Daimler wavy fluting incorporated in the chrome radiator grille, their smoothness and the sound of their V8 engine. They were given distinctive exterior and interior finishes. This one has a two-tone paint scheme of gray from the chrome trim line up and hood, with a lighter shade of greenish/gray on the flanks. The color are simply "delightful", as the English would say.

The car was originally delivered in England on June 25, 1965 to Mr. Sidney Walter Appleyard, of London by the Dealer, Walter Chidley Limited of Tottenham. A photograph of the original Daimler Owner's Service Policy is attached with the stamps from the authorized dealer and Mr. Appleyards name and address affixed to the document.

The remaining documentation shows that the car had 20851 miles on it in May of 1977, when it was given it's inspection in England (copy attached).

The car was shipped to the United States by Susan Dunn of Long Beach/Huntington Beach in 1978 or 79. It was sold to the third owner by her in February 24, 1981, to a Mr. R.J. Kaisersatt of San Juan Capistrano. At the time (see attached CA Notice of Sale) it had 31116 miles on it. R.J. drove it minimally until he finally parked it for 30 years. The last sticker on the car is from 1981 on the California Blue License Plate. It also has the original English Plates that came with the car when new. My friend, the mechanic bought it RJ about four months ago and has been working on it and driving it minimally since.

He has cleaned out the gasoline, rebuilt the carbs, did a complete tune-up, replaced all the old fluids (transmission, coolant, brake fluid & oil). The car runs and drives wonderfully. It could use a new set of tires.

The body on the car is completely rust free and extremely straight. The paint is a real brain twister, because it could very well be the original paint. If it is not then it was indeed painted a very long time ago. It is single stage and looks like an old enamel to me. The car has a few blemishes here and there and a couple of bruises, but not much. It is a very presentable driver quality paint job. Most importantly the body is rust free. I would call the overall body a 7.5 - 8 out of 10.

The original chrome is in amazing condition and would call it an 8.5 out of ten and the window surround chrome is a 9 out of 10, just amazing. The original window felt is still good in the car. It obviously spent its life in the garage and was kept in the dry Southern California Climate of San Juan Capistrano. The hubcaps are also in good shape.

The Interior is in very good condition with the all complete leather having a wonderful patina to it. The headliner and door panels are near mint condition for the age of this vehicle. The Wood is a 9 out of 10. The Steering Wheel is in excellent original condition and has no cracks.

The Engine Bay area is all original with all original wiring that works just fine. All lights work on the car. Under the hood is clean and tidy and completely unrestored and original.

The Undercarriage is completely rust free and in very tidy condition. The exhaust system is in excellent working order.

The car drives down the road with authority and handles distinctively with the lighter front end. It brakes well. This car is just a lot of fun to drive.

Cars like this are very difficult to find and this on is in simply amazing condition. I would not do anything to this vehicle other than a new set of tires. Get in it and drive it and enjoy it. If you ever decided you wanted to restore it to Concour this would be the perfect candidate. To me, a car like this should just be maintained and kept in its original condition.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
