*There was a question about the switch plate with toggle mounted on the dash to the left of the steering wheel.
Mark IX's were not originally manufactured with factory a/c. However once they were imported into the states Jaguar dealerships were then authorized to install an a/c kit as an option. The a/c unit did operate when we purchased the car 20 years ago. However, it does not at this time. Everything is complete and with some work could likely be brought back to working order.

This 1960 Jaguar Mk IX was originally delivered to Jaguar Cars of New York City and was sold new in Los Angeles, California. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2012, and recent recommissioning after a period of disuse included repairs to the fuel system and carburetor as well as replacing the battery. Originally blue, it is finished in two-tone black and silver over red leather upholstery and powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Features include twin SU carburetors, 16” steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a sliding sunroof, driving lights, rear fender skirts, wood interior trim, an AM/FM Blaupunkt radio, and fold-down tables for the rear passengers. This Mk IX saloon is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the owner with a copy of the original sales invoice, a Jaguar Heritage Production Record Certificate, service records, a tool kit, and a clean Missouri title.
The car left the factory finished in Cotswold Blue and was refinished in its current two-tone black and silver scheme under previous ownership. It features a sliding sunroof, driving lights, rear fender skirts, and chrome bumpers with overriders. Exterior blemishes are noted.
Silver-finished 16” wheels wear polished hubcaps and are mounted with wide-whitewall radial tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. A leak is noted from the left-rear brake caliper.
The bench seating and door panels are trimmed in red leather. Inlaid burl wood trim accents the dashboard and each door panel. The dashboard houses an aftermarket Blaupunkt AM/FM radio as well as a locking glovebox. A section of trim on the driver’s door panel is missing, there is a hole in the front seat upholstery, and the aftermarket rear-mounted air conditioning does not work.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a burl wood dashboard panel, and centrally mounted Smiths instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 60k miles, approximately 250 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown, and the temperature gauge is inoperable.
Rear seat occupants are provided with fold-down wood tables, a clock, and pillar-mounted lighters.
The 3.8-liter inline-six is fed by twin SU carburetors and was factory rated at 220 horsepower. Work in February 2024 included replacing the battery, draining and refilling the fuel tanks, and repairing and adjusting the fuel pump and carburetors. The passenger-side fuel tank lines and pump are disconnected. The car will require additional sorting before regular use and is described as a “running project” by the seller.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission.
The Jaguar Heritage Production Record Certificate shows that the car was produced on February 4th, 1960, and lists powertrain numbers and colors. Service records are included in the sale.
The Missouri title is listed as a duplicate.
