Seller's description:
1956 Jaguar Mark VII 3.4 Litre 190BHP
Chassis Number: 728823DN
Registration Number: PYS465
Registered In: UK
Price: £50,000
Under the previous rownership for over 45 years. This car is a very very rare survivor in simply perfect conditon thoughout. It has belonged to a prominenevioust Scottish motor musem for many years where it has been both displayed & also used regularly but sparingly. The car has covered 95,500 miles from new. Incremental MOT certificates show a very gradual increase in mileage during the prior ownership.

The car is now back on the market as the wife of the gentleman whom we sold it to finds it too big to drive & enjoy & is more comfortable in their Bentlay R Type. £5,000 has been recently spent upon the car including fitting power steering & replacing a leaking fuel tank & changing all rubber hoses etc in the engine bay to brand new items. The car is thus in amazingly good order & drives beautifully.

When new the car was supplied to Glasgow where it was chauffeur driven for the early part of its life. The museum owners purchased the car decades ago from the second owner having looked long & far for a pristine example of the model.

The interior red leather of this venerable Jaguar is original to the car & beautifully preserved. The copious burr walnut woodwork is all in perfect condition. The chrome work has been redone where needed & also the car has had a full very high quality respray in it's original colour of grey.

Being a later model of the Mark 7 it benefits from the higher 190HP engine connected to the 4 speed manual gear box.

I have to stress what perfect condition this Jaguar is in made all the better for the original leather of the interior. It is an opulent & comfortable car to travel in comparing very very well to simlar R Type & S1 Bentley/Rolls Royce cars of the period being a little more sporting in nature but with similar creature comforts. It is of course far far rarer then its Rolls or Bentley equivalents.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
