Off to Toronto...Few left-hand-drive (U.S. delivery) versions of the beautiful MK V were built, very few were fitted with the larger 3.5 litre, twin carburetor 6-cylinder engine (as opposed to the 2.5 litre engine) and fewer still with the most unusual and beautiful 3-position convertible top offering fully open or fully closed motoring or an open driver's compartment with a closed and private rear compartment. The side chrome landau irons, twin Lucas road lamps and long flowing rear fender skirts continue the pre-war design of the side running boards but the car is as comfortable to drive on the highway as it is on back roads. Our car has been owned by one Pennsylvania couple for the past 37 years and they sent their automotive pride and joy to the renowned Pennsylvania restoration firm, The Wendling Brothers, for a 3-year "ground-up" restoration, completed in 1993. This already fabulously elegant car is even more so in black with tan leather and matching top, top boot and carpets and gorgeous polished burr walnut facia and interior cabin trim. Quite spirited with its larger engine and 4-speed manual transmission, this is a classically- designed beauty. It is still accompanied by most of its original tools.
