    This is a superb example of the desirable Jaguar Mk.V 3.5 Litre Drophead Coupe. Our car is from 1950 and is finished in Dark Blue with Tan Leather interior. It is an older restoration and is now in a wonderful condition to use.

    Often referred to as the “Bentley” of the Jaguar line this rare original RHD UK delivered MK V Drophead is finished in deep blue with biscuit interior.

    Virtually unmarked the car is in stunning condition throughout and finished with a black mohair hood. This is an imposing car and very rare with only 977 being produced between 1948 - 1951 of which only 137 were UK delivered RHD cars.

    A very considerable amount of restoration has been undertaken over the years to maintain the vehicle in top condition. A most impressive car that will grace any collection.

    With prices taking off recently this is a rare opportunity to purchase a superb example for a reasonable price.

    I added the gearbox and body numbers, not 100% sure about them from that low res photo, the gearbox is pretty clear, but the DH body number not so. In case anyone find something wrong here, please correct. Cheers!

    Car to be at auction 12/10
    www.historics.co.uk/buying/online-catalogue/1949-jaguar-mk-v-dhc.aspx

    Auction description:
    Auction Date: 04 December 2010
    Lot - 1949 Jaguar Mk.V Three Position Drophead Coupé
    * Registration: NUV38
    * Chassis Number: 640080
    * Engine Number: 23321
    * Odometer reading: 68,464
    * Estimate: £54,000-£62,000

    Described as virtually unmarked by the vendor, this most elegant of examples not only is presented with the more desirable 3.5 litre engine but the drophead configuration are becoming increasingly hard to find. NUV38 has the correct and original matching engine, gearbox and chassis numbers as well as a black mohair hood and is a credit to its motor engineer owner of more than 10 years. A considerable amount of restoration has been undertaken over the years to maintain the vehicle in its current condition. Complete with an extensive history to include buff log book, Heritage Certificate, sundry invoices as well a collection of old MoT test certificates and road tax discs. A most impressive car that will grace any collection.

    Auction description:

    10th May, 2026 The Millbrook Sale | Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire

    1950 Jaguar MkV 3½-Litre Drophead Coupé

    Estimate £25,000 - £30,000

    Registration No: NUV 38

    Chassis No: 640080

    MOT: Exempt

    1 of just 108 right-hand drive examples

    Offered with a large history file and current V5c document

    Finished in Dark Blue complemented to a Tan interior

    Manufactured on the 19th September 1950, chassis 640080 was clothed in factory ‘three-position’ drop-head coachwork; It was sold in RHD configuration by the UK agents Lewis and Hodgkin on the 29th November that year. Purchased new by a high-ranking RAF officer by the name of Brian Arthur Scott, he had the car shipped to West Africa, before bringing it home with him in 1953. It sold to two owners in the South of England around 1962/63, before passing to a. Mr. Sidwell who kept it for a decade. He then sold it to a Mr. Edwards in 1991 for (a reputed) £27,500, equivalent to £64,000 in ‘today’s money’! Edwards was responsible for much documented expenditure between c1992 - 1995 and the 69,000 miles displayed on the odometer are believed genuine, supported by a selection of old MOT certificates. Advertised by AutoCherish Ltd of Essex in early 2011, our vendor’s father purchased the car from them for £46,000 on the 18th March 2011. The Jaguar has remained on display in his small private collection subsequently and a small degree of recommissioning will now be required - we are advised the car hasn’t been started or driven for “the last few years”.

    Guided conservatively and offered with a comprehensive history file - this includes a continuation folding logbook, JDHT certificate / letter, sales literature, press articles, receipts, period service manual and lots of other technical literature.
