Seller description:
This is very Rare and unique vehicle. Found in a barn and had been there since 1960. We have documentation and registrations from 1958,59, and 1960 as well as others. We have completely restored the drive train to original. Radiator, gastank ,tire, wheels and brakes have also been replaced. We have completly re-wired the car with a hand built,to spec, harness imported from the UK. The car drives down the road great. Now it's time from the next owner to take it to the next level. Body and interior are unrestored but functional. Even the Traficators have been restored. This being the first post war car from Jaguar and the first LHD built for export, makes it very rare and desireable. 1 of only 137 LHD mark iv's built that year. Please call for more details
Price: 68995 USD

Current bid $6,889 reserve not met, 3 bids 6 days left in auction. 88k miles.

This was a barn find. Had been stored since 1960. The owners hired someone to rebuild but left it dissembled and in very poor condition as you see by the photos. We have restored the entire drive train including the radiator and fuel tank. also repaired the heater, trafficators and all the gauges work. Way to much to list so please ask any question you would like. This is the first post-war Jaguar model and a continuation of the pre-war car. It was also the first year built LHD for export, this is one of 137 built world wide that year. Still has mechanical brakes all rebuilt and working fine.

Has anyone got access to this vehicle to take detailed photos of the tools in the tool tray.
It already sports a Mark 5 feature. The unpleated seats. Has a different chrome divider between the front guards also.

Jordy, in my opinion the tool tray is empty, in other way they would take some pictures of the toolst. The leather on the seats is not original for sure. Cheers!

Hi guys,
Also the oil pressure and water temp. gauge come from a MKV, so I would be that the seats and the front apron chrome were also taken from a MKV or used at a time when the MK IV parts were not available. The seats them selves look original, just not to the this model, although as this is one of the last MKIV Saloons made I would not be too surprised if the seats and front apron were done that way, but I am pretty sure the factory would have had the matching face plate for the instruments, and not have used the wrong one (the MKV has a unique font/face plate design on the instruments) in this car. Cheers!

The high mileage of 88K miles indicates that this car has been a trouble free car during its life. Aside from the listed deviations from stock original, it seems whoever buys this vehicle will end up with a fine car. With a moderate expenditure, this car can be an almost daily driver.

Guys,
when it comes to the seats...
After seeing brochure from 1946 of The Hoffman Motor Car Co. who was authorized Jaguar distributor in New York, I'm quite confused about the seats - whether they are from MKIV or MKV.
Look at this:

What is your opinion?

When this Jaguar was found in the barn, the inside motor was a Z series from a Mk 5.

Mateusz, Good catch on the Hoffman cards. Those are certainly MK V style seats. I only one thing to say, this is not a real photograph. So it is entirely possible that the artist drew the Mk V seats. Why? That question I can't answer!!

Car returns to ebay 4/9/17 www.ebay.com/itm/1948-Jaguar-MK-IV-/162463195568
Car has a buy it now price of $38,900 for 6 days, seller historicmotorsports, car now said to be in Candia, New Hampshire, 80k miles.
Sellers description:
This 1948 3.5 liter Jaguar MK IV having been in storage since 1960, was removed from storage in 2012 and a year long mechanical restoration was undertaken. Work began with a complete motor rebuild, installation of a new wiring harness, a thorough fuel system cleaning and carb rebuilding. The radiator was re-cored, the wheels were powder coated and fit with new tires, and all fluids were changed. All gauges were cleaned, tested and rebuilt as required. The car received a complete brake system overhaul and a new battery and exhaust system were installed. The intent was to drive the car and sort it out before continuing the restoration of the paint and interior. The owner has now decided to focus his efforts onto other projects and is offering the car for sale as a "survivor" that can be use as an unrestored example or a great platform for an aesthetic restoration.
With the exception of the areas on the front fenders were the turn signals were removed, all the paint on the car appears to be the original black finish from the factory.
Currently the seats and door panels appear to be original but show their age. The interior wood dash and trim is in very nice condition and is most likely a result of a previous refinishing. The headliner and carpet are clearly in need of replacement.
It should be noted that with fewer then 100 miles on the car since it was made road worthy again, it's likely that further sorting may be required. Spare parts include replacement front turn signal housings that were oddly removed from the front fenders at some point in the 1950's, as well as assorted used parts and hardware. Documents include previous registrations from 1958, 59' and 60' as well as a previous owners bill of Sale dated April 1954, owner manual and recently issued Jaguar Heritage Certificate. This MK IV is one of approximately only 85 saloon MK IV examples imported to the United States.
