Auction description:
Lot 46c.1947 Jaguar Mark IV 3 1/2-litre Saloon Project NO RESERVE [Location: Sydney]
Chassis no. 611858
Engine no. S1558
Body no. B6967
We understand this Mark IV 3 1/2-litre Saloon was part of a larger collection of Jaguars owned by a marque enthusiast who sold them to someone in Queensland several years ago. The current Sydney owner bought a group of cars to get a couple of special models he was particularly focused on and the remainder have been kept in dry storage ever since.
Offered without reserve and strictly as viewed, the Jaguar has clearly seen better days, with plenty of rust evident in the body panels, the interior is in weathered condition and the car hasn’t evidently run in many years. On the plus side the Mark IV appears to be relatively complete mechanically, with the engine showing a number corresponding to the build plate. The Lucas P100 headlamps, always a feature on these early Jaguar models, remain in place and the gauges are all still present in the dilapidated dash panel. Items like the radiator cap and tool kit are missing.
Presenting as a good source of spare parts, a restoration project for someone not faint of heart or even a piece of garden art, the Jaguar will be sold unregistered and with No Reserve.
