Auction description:
Registration Date 1949
Make & Model Jaguar MkV 2.5 Saloon
Colour White
Registration Number HGE 807
Chassis No. 521323
Engine size 2,664 cc
Engine No. H3056
Documents V5C; extensive history file
Estimate £20,000 - £25,000
Dating from 1949, this superb MkV 2.5 was exported to Pennsylvania in 1955 before returning to the UK in 1991 shortly after which it was fully restored at a cost of over £30,000. Described in the mid-1990s as 'probably the best in the world,' it was displayed at Coys International Historic Festival at Silverstone in 1995 and then in the November of that year was loaned to the Museum of British Transport in Coventry for the 'Jaguar 60 Years Celebration', standing alongside the Queen Mother's Jaguar MkVII, as shown in photos on file.
Maintained regardless of cost over the years, it was acquired by the vendor way back in 1999 to join his collection of Jaguar cars and has always been in light regular use. It has also earned a good living as an occasional wedding car, carrying various celebrities to church on their big day including East Enders actors, pop stars such as Shaznay Lewis of the All Saints girl band, and gold medal-winning Olympic heptathlete, Jessica Ennis-Hill, in May 2013.
Remaining in wonderful condition throughout, this rare and beautiful Jaguar comes with an extensive history file, retains most of its original tool kit and would grace any collection. It is only reluctantly offered for sale by its long-term enthusiast owner due to imminent relocation and consequent loss of storage. Bid vigorously today and his loss could be your gain...
