This 1948 Jaguar Mark IV is a right-hand-drive Saloon that was refurbished and modified during prior ownership with a 2.5-liter inline-four and a four-speed automatic transmission said to have been sourced from a 1999 Ford Ranger. The car is finished in white and equipped with body-color 18” wire wheels, P80 headlights modified with H4 halogen bulbs, a rear LED brake light, driving lamps, a rearview camera mirror, a telescopic steering column, and AutoMeter gauges. It was acquired by the seller in March 2021, and work has since reportedly included replacing the Walnut dash, along with the wiring harness and fuel pump. This Mark IV Saloon is now offered with parts receipts from previous ownership, a service manual, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in black, the car was repainted white during prior ownership, and the chrome trim was re-plated in 2011. P80 headlights with H4 halogen headlight bulbs have been added, along with hazard light wiring and an LED rear brake light and turn signals. The windshield fold-out crank was replaced with window latches from a 1961 Jaguar MKII. Scratches are evident on the body and paint chips are noted around the driver’s door.
White-painted 18” wire wheels wear two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 5.25/5.50-18 tires. A matching spare is secured in a compartment under the trunk. A brake adjustment was reportedly performed during current ownership.
The cabin houses adjustable front bucket seats that were reupholstered in black leather during prior ownership, along with matching door panels. Black carpets line the floors, and the black rear bench seat shows creasing and tears. A rearview camera mirror was installed by the seller, along with a replacement lower Walnut dash panel with switches for the external lights. Additional amenities include a telescopic steering column, rubber floor mats, and crank windows. The heater has been removed.
A four-spoke steering wheel fronts AutoMeter gauges consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and displays for fuel level, voltage, water temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer shows 1,300 miles, approximately 100 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.5-liter inline-four is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, both of which were reportedly sourced from a 1999 Ford Ranger and installed by the previous owner. Components replaced during current ownership are said to include the starter solenoid, wiring harness, fuse box, battery power distribution block, fuel filter, and fuel pump. An oil change was performed in 2021, and a spare set of spark plugs and ignition wires are included in the sale per the seller.
The steering box and rear differential are noted to leak.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate details factory colors and serial numbers. Parts receipts and handwritten notes from previous ownership are included in the sale.
