Auction description:
The Roy Savage Collection of Classic Cars(#124MG) 04/12/2016
Lot 102 of 30: 1966 JAGUAR MK II 3.8-LITRE MANUAL SALOON
Chassis no: 235213 DN
Engine no: LE 3988-8

Roy Savage acquired this motor car in April 1976 from the Jaguar dealership Archer and Lupp, who had purchased it from Joan Wyness. This very original Jaguar 3.8 was first owned in New Zealand by Manfred Edzard Ulrich, of Rotorua who kept it until 1969. According to the Certificate of Registration, it appears to have had three subsequent owners and has been traded via Archer and Lupp throughout that time.

This car is accompanied by the Jaguar Trust Heritage Certificate which states it is a factory right hand drive saloon built on the 15 September, 1966 with a manual and overdrive transmission. The factory exterior paint is Silver Grey with a red Interior trim. It was originally distributed by Byatts of Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire to Moss Rose Motors with date of dispatch being 27 September, 1966. The first owner was John A. Bayley. Between this date and 25 November 1966 it was brought to New Zealand and purchased by Manfred Ulrich. The mileage at that point in time was not recorded.

This motor car has been carefully maintained and presents in good straight condition for its age and use. It has lovely patina having preserved its carpets and the timber veneers are untouched. It features its original radio, Smiths and Lucas gauges and the original steering wheel. It sports wire wheels with spare and tool kit. It has twin SU carburettors, 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive and an in-line twin overhead camshaft 6-cylinder engine. The 3.8-litre Mk II was supplied with a limited-slip differential and disc brakes front and rear as standard equipment. At the time of Roy Savage acquiring this car it was recorded to have an odometer reading of 76,600 and it now show approx. 85,200 miles.

A luxurious sports saloon and an exceptional example of the model that was the choice of Jaguar enthusiasts, this 3.8 Mk II would make a great addition to any aspiring collection.

This vehicle will be sold licenced with WoF.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
