Car to be at auction 10/22

Auction description:

1962 Jaguar MK II

Broad Arrow Auctions - Passion for the Drive : the Cars of Jim Taylor

Gloversville, 15 October

Chassis No. 218207 DN

Engine No. LB 63950-9

The handsome Jaguar Mark II offered here was acquired by Mr. Taylor in early 2005, reportedly from its third owner. An original left-hand-drive example, it is equipped with its original chassis plate and numbers-matching 3.8-litre engine, both block and head, per the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, as well as the desirable four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, Motorola transistor radio, day/night rear-view mirror, period-correct seatbelts, and rear fender spats.

While refinished in previous ownership, the car still exhibits wonderful originality throughout, including the factory leather interior, down to the headliner, carpets, and wood trim, the latter exhibiting light “alligatoring” on the rear picnic tables as is common. In Mr. Taylor's ownership a new windshield and exhaust were installed, as noted by invoices in the history file. The engine bay is clean, original, and unmodified, and the body solid and straight, as is the chassis, indicating a happy life within a dry climate. Black disc wheels are fitted with chrome hubcaps and shod with Vredestein Sprint ST 15-in. tires. At the time of cataloguing the car recorded 18,478 miles, and is accompanied by a jack and spare wheel with tire.

This is a wonderful very original example of one of the era's finest British saloons, ideal for the owner who favors the evocative experience of cruising the highway on original upholstery, buoyed forward by 3.8-litre power and overdrive.

*Titled as 1962*

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
