A rare and elegant 2+2 grand tourer, this is a left-hand-drive example of the desirable Jaguar MKII 3.8 Automatic, benefitting from a prior restoration and now presented in a handsome factory-correct colour scheme.
It is powered by a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated inline-six, driving the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission.
Originally delivered to the US market and later imported to Finland, where it is now registered as a historic vehicle.
This example was restored in the 1990s, with the car receiving comprehensive work including a full repaint, interior refurbishment, and an engine rebuild.
The odometer indicates 96,124 miles, though this is not warranted.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
This MkII 3.8 is finished in the ever-popular shade of Old English White, over a red leather-trimmed interior, featuring wood veneer and chrome trim.
It rides on a set of chrome cross-spoke wire wheels with two-spoke knock-offs, fitted with whitewall tyres.
Equipment includes a two-spoke steering wheel, push-out front quarter light windows, Smiths gauges, fold-down rear tables, dashboard toggle switches, heater and ventilation controls, and a Blaupunkt push-button radio.
It has been upgraded with electric power steering to enhance driving usability.
The car is accompanied by a historic vehicle certificate, registration papers, restoration invoices, service records, and TÜV inspection reports.
Supplied with one ignition key.
CONDITION
Specific notes from the seller include: minor age-related imperfections such as small stone chips, bubbles, and scratches in the paintwork; and normal signs of wear to the cabin surfaces.
The car was fully repainted during its 1990s restoration, the seats were reupholstered, and the wooden interior components were restored during the same process.
The most recent TÜV inspection was in July 2024, which is understood to have resulted in a clean pass.
SERVICE HISTORY
This MkII’s most recent maintenance was carried out in October 2019 by Jag-Finn, which included the installation of electric power steering and a turn signal switch being repaired.
Additional notable work includes a replacement fuel pump, renewed front axle joints, new engine mounts, and the drive shaft being refurbished.
A full restoration was carried out during the 1990s, which included the body being repainted, the chrome being renewed, the engine rebuilt, the interior reupholstered and the wood restored.
