Auction description:

Collector Car & Number Plate Auction

Three owners from new

The ultimate Mark II variant

Offered with No Reserve

Chassis No. 209510DN

Engine No. LC4568-8

For many enthusiasts an overdrive manual 3.8-litre Mark II is the ultimate four-door Jaguar and the car we are pleased to offer here ticks just about every box, adding original documentation, a great colour combination and limited ownership to the list of desirable attributes.

The Manufacturer’s Warranty confirms the car was supplied directly by Jaguar Cars Limited to Lt Graham R Rohrsheim c/- Australia House in the Strand, London WC2 on November 16, 1962. Later awarded the DSC for services as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam (by which time he was a Lieutenant Commander), Rohrsheim lived in Indooroopilly, QLD and presumably shipped the Mark II home early on.

We understand the car passed to the second owner in August 1973 and from him to the present owner in February 1991. The service book has been filled out until 1973, by which time the car was in New South Wales and was showing just 10,156 miles - a remarkably low figure for the first decade of its life - and the odometer is now reading 4,717 miles, presumably after going around once.

Nicely presented in Gunmetal with contrasting red leather upholstery, a combination that really suits the Mark II’s curvaceous lines, the Jaguar is in decent cosmetic condition without being a concours car and would suit someone looking for a solid driver-level example with the potential to further improve it down the track.

Still fitted with an original push-button AM radio, the Jaguar remains pleasingly original throughout; the interior timber work is arguably the weakest part of the cosmetics and could be refurbished, while the seat fronts have been re-trimmed and are showing relatively little wear.

Maintained in good mechanical condition by our vendor for the past 43 years, the 3.8 XK motor fires easily and the car made the trip up to Sydney from the Shoalhaven region of NSW without an issues.

Supplied with the correct tool kit, books and manuals in their plastic wallet and currently registered on non-transferable historic plates in NSW, the Jaguar will therefore be sold unregistered and with No Reserve

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
