Largely original, this 1962 Jaguar Mark 2 sedan has been mildly modified by an enthusiast owner in a way that broadens its appeal to every enthusiast. Australian-delivered by Bryson’s of Melbourne, this 3.8L Mark 2 has seen its original factory-fitted three-speed auto replaced by a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, and power steering added, both sourced from a Jaguar XJ6. There’s even a gear knob from a Ford Falcon GT to show its gear pattern. Its original Mist Grey paintwork has been refinished to a nice standard, however what was once a red leather interior is now Navy Blue. Reclining front bucket seats have also been added for comfort, and the Jag’s positive earth electrics changed to negative earth for convenience. It’s all been done to make this Mark 2 a little more useable in today’s world, without losing the classic feel that makes these cars so enjoyable to own. Along the way, there’s been bodywork to remove some rust and an engine rebuild too. Overall it’s in nice condition, with good paint and decent chrome, while the Mark 2’s interior is showing a little wear to the driver’s seat and centre console housing. Otherwise it is in good shape with revarnished wood, new headlining and carpets, and an original radio. This ’62 Jag comes with an incredible and very comprehensive history folder that includes a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, images of work done, and receipts going back to 2006. There’s also an original Owner’s manual and factory Service manual, plus an array of parts including the OEM steering box and various other spares. Importantly, the mechanical changes to this Mark 2 saloon are captured on an attached Victorian Modification Plate. Previously on full Victorian registration, the 1962 Jaguar Mark 2 is being sold here unregistered and at No Reserve.
