Auction description:
15 Jun 2013 15:00 BST Oxford
Collectors' Motor Cars
Lot 118
1969 Jaguar 240 Saloon
Registration no. YWX 105G
Chassis no. 1J44630N
Engine no. 7J53158
Estimate:
£7,000 - 9,000
€8,200 - 11,000
US$ 11,000 - 14,000
An older restoration, this Jaguar 240 has had four owners since February 1978 and was treated to a major service in June 1989. Currently displaying a total of 70,199 miles on the odometer, it appears fundamentally solid albeit in need of further refurbishment, particularly of the paint and interior woodwork. Some basic rallying modifications have been incorporated a half roll cage and Luke harnesses and the car comes with FIA paperwork, handbook, Shell service records and maintenance vouchers.
In storage for several years, the car will require re-commissioning before further use and thus is sold strictly as viewed.
No Reserve.

First Registered 1968
Registration No YUWX 105
Engine No 7J53158
Chassis No 1J14463DN
MOT Aug 2015
Colour Wedgewood Blue
Offered here is a 1969 example of the 240 saloon, which is said to have had just 3 owners from 1969 to 1989 and in single ownership for the next 24 years. The car was granted FIA Historic Rally Homologation papers in 1989 and competed in the Pirelli Classic Marathon crewed by Paul Grubic and Brian Clegg. The car not only finished the rally but came 10th in class 3.
Finished in opalescent silver blue with contrasting blue interior, the car was dry stored for 23 years and has recently been recommissioned by a specialist Jaguar restorer. It is believed to have covered a genuine 70,000 miles. The car is offered complete with original Jaguar service vouchers and owners handbook, in the original folder and has benefited from new clutch at 68,000 miles, new shocks, new radiator, heater box and new tyres.
Offered complete with an MoT through to August 2014 and 12 months historic tax.
