Auction description:
1966 JAGUAR MKX FOUR DOOR SALOON
Exceptional Motor Cars, Christies (17th August 2006)
Overview
Two owners from new
Metallic silver with black leather interior
Engine: six cylinder, in-line, twin overhead camshafts, 4,235cc, 265bhp at 5,400rpm; Gearbox: three speed automatic; Suspension: front, wishbones and coil springs with torsion bars, rear, independent with wishbones, radius arms and coil springs; Brakes: servo-assisted disc all around. Left hand drive.
The example offered by Christie's was delivered new to British Motor Car Distributors in San Francisco in August 1966. It went directly to Seattle, Washington with the original owner where it has remained since, having changed hands only once more. It is unrestored other than having been repainted to a high standard. The engine was rebuilt in 1992 and nearly everything mechanically, from the exhaust, cooling and braking systems to the instruments and ignition, have been rebuilt or replaced. The mostly original interior shows only a light, attractive patina expected in a car approaching 40 years old and is thus a testament to the caring custodians it has enjoyed.
This wonderful Jaguar comes with complete original owners' books (including the operating handbook, maintenance booklet and chart, warranty booklet, and dealer directory), original purchase paperwork, and thorough service and maintenance receipts from both owners. Also included is an essay from the original owner reminiscing and recounting the reasons for parting with this faithful steed.
This MkX is a true collectible, perfect for those looking for something out of the ordinary which can be driven (possibly even daily), shown or simply admired whilst parked in the garage.

Three owners from new
1966 Jaguar Mark X 4.2-Liter Saloon
Chassis no. 1D76503BW
Engine no. 7D54279-9
Finished in brilliant silver with black leather and wide white wall tires, Sam acquired this Mark X in August 2006. It was originally delivered new the British Motor Car Distributors in San Francisco in August 1966 and then shipped directly to Seattle for its first owner. It remained in Seattle until Sam acquired, having only changed hands once in between. Kept in lovely, original condition, it has been subject only to a high quality repaint and an engine rebuild in 1992—during which the mechanics of the car, including the cooling and braking systems, exhaust, ignition and instruments were either rebuilt or replaced. A fantastic opportunity to acquire a largely original, three owner from new, West Coast Jaguar saloon with all the luxury appointments.
