Auction description:
1964 Daimler 2.5 V8 Saloon
Australian delivered
Lovely example
Chassis number: LA6948 BW
Engine number: 7A2202
A late 1964 Daimler 2.5 V8 Saloon fitted with the standard Borg Warner automatic transmission, this car is in lovely condition throughout.
Finished in attractive Navy Blue with a maroon interior, and fitted with genuine knock-off chrome wire wheels with “D” motif spinners, it is also equipped with the desirable option of Power Steering.
A Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms that this 2.5 V8 is an Australian delivered car, sold new on 29/12/1964 by Bryson Motors in Melbourne, with the Victoria registration number JPJ 939.
Since then, the main departure from its factory specification has been an upgrade to the Navy Blue paintwork from its original Suede Green. A non-period Pioneer stereo neatly mounted below the lovely timber-clad dashboard provides.
At one stage part of a collection of a prominent Queensland politician, it has been used sparingly. Our vendor recommissioned the car with many minor issues rectified by a Jaguar mechanic. It has a new battery, fuel pump and radiator hoses.
An excellent driver’s car, the current mileage is recorded as 36,616 miles and it comes with a copy of the Daimler factory Service Manual and Jaguar/Daimler Heritage Certificate.
Over 17,157 examples of the 2.5 V8 Saloon were manufactured by Daimler in RHD form – only 727 were LHD – making this the British marque’s most successful post-war model by far.
