British understatement comes in many forms. The Jaguar Mk 2 is a prime example: launched in 1955, initially with a 2.4-liter engine, later with a 3.4-liter, the most powerful being a 3.8-liter inline six-cylinder. The Mk 2 adopted the basic body shape, with the grille of the XK-150 sports car, from its predecessor, with only minor modifications. Therefore, some body parts still retain pre-war styling: the closely spaced headlights, the rounded rear, and the "spats," the removable covers on the rear wheel arches. However, the main difference lies in the Mk 2's 18 percent larger window area. And with this distinctive look, the rounded, charming Briton became one of the world's most popular classic cars.
