Ebay item 7/27/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ready-restore-great-project-car-/280927398524
Current bid $1,000, no reserve, 7 bids 2 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
This car has been sitting in a field since 2009 waiting for someone to bring it back to it's former glory.

The body is in decent shape, straight but with the exception of a dent in the nicely curved trunk. There is rust bubbling through the paint and there is some bondo that has cracked. The headlight trim rings are missing.

The tires look good and are mounted on nice wire wheels.

The front seats are incorrect but the original seats are in the back and need reupholstering. The interior is rough and missing carpet.

The engine will run but you CANNOT drive it home until all of the systems are inspected.

Car has a buy it now price of $6,000 for 20 days. Car now said to be in Dayton, Ohio.

Sellers description:
1962 Jaguar Mark II 3.4 Sedan Vin #178353

I've removed and saved all parts in order to simplify, start and drive Her Majesty on a regular basis.

Dependable everyday driver (needs clutch and water pump +, +) but starts and drives every day, every time. Garners more attention than any $200,000 ride OUT THERE. Speedometer not working but shows 62K and change.

Clear State of Virginia title signed off to me, owner. Car and I live in Dayton, Ohio.

This Jag is rusty, dented and missing some interior trim parts and other misc items. Yet it is amazing what is still viable and her beautifully elegant form yet stands on it's own like NO other contemporary automobile. Period.

Daily and Weekly driver, but clutch slips- holds ok in first and second gear. Doesn't get any worse over time. Just drive it every week locally to visit neighbors, restraunts, bars, art museums, car shows, etc.

Body: Top frame/window frames free of rusty perforation.
Rocker panels: look new for some reason.
Subframe: Rear pass side springholder reenforced with bolts but appear to be restorable and are holding there own. Rear leaf springs are sagging.
MAJOR RUST: Front apron below bumper repaired with plastic media, front subframe front ends rusted out, rear wheel well fronts rusted and repaired with plastic media, floor pan under rear seat repaired with plastic media, front floors surface rusted badly with minimum perforation. Other smaller to medium rust repairs on body with plastic media.
Interior: Rear seats not bad. Front seat frames are good as well as rear fold down tables on back are Good. Front seats need upholstering. Interior in general missing most wood, no door panels.
Dashboard: Mostly there but most wood missing or aged. Other dash parts may be missing. Ammeter works fine. Headlight switch works ok. Ignition and starter switch work fine. Tachometer works. Other gauges inop.
Glass: mostly ok.
Doors: Some doors filled with foam on bottom and STARTING to rust bubble on bottom outer skin. Most Jags i've seen/owned are much worse than these doors. All window cranks roll windows up and down. some with difficulty, others ok. Hinges OK. Doors shut and open OK, some with a little difficulty.
Trunk: Very little rust perforation including spare holder. Trunk lid dented in with medium hit. Hinges and holding springs operate well. latch and lock inoperative or missing.
Have original wheel spats (skirts) but due to body plastic media repairs, not installed.
3.4 Engine: No smoke. Runs smooth and strong. No timing chain rattle, no unusual noises. Homebuilt manifold with rebuilt Rochester 2bbl carb from '62 Buick 231 V6 works well. Engine (when warm) idles perfectly at 700 RPM. Starts EVERY TIME- (HAVE ORIGINAL SU CARBS and all linkage etc) good response and smooth/strong. Generator and regulator work perfectly as per working dash ammeter. Water pump seal drips. No other coolant leaks anywhere. New fan belt. New gear drive starter and relay.
Fuel system: Fuel tank leakd a little and is removed. Boat fuel tank in trunk works well with aftermarket fuel pump. Choke is disconnected so a few minutes warm up required to drive with smoothness. Warm, engine idles 700 RPM.
Gearbox: 4 Speed Moss gearbox with Overdrive. Shifts well up and down. Have not used overdrive yet. Fluids are topped off with 90ww oil.
Clutch: Hydraulics in perfect working order. Clutch pedal feel, engage disengage perfect. Adustment is proper, but CLUTCH SLIPS on medium to heavy loads. Will hold 60-70% of time in third gear. OK in first and second gear if careful. I'm careful so i drive it all over the city.
Brakes: Front brake calipers and pads work perfectly. New brake lines and master cylinder. NO REAR BRAKES. Rear brakes are removed from car and are inoperable. NO BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM. Brakes are manual but work fine with FIRM PEDAL PRESSURE. Car stops OK. Operable. Rear calipers are being soaked in oil presently.
ELECTRICAL: Wiring harness original, old but mostly ok. 1 or 2% of existing wires will crack and only in the engine room. I have spliced into existing wiring in order for LIGHTS TO DRIVE LEGALLY. Tail lights for "driving and braking" work well. Original Headlight switch works drivers headlight and tailights. Front wing fender top lights have been removed and filled.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
