1965 Jaguar Mk 2 3.4
Presents beautifully
Two-owner car
When you are noting a missing tiny red repeater lens atop the front left indicator housing as the only immediately obvious flaw with this restored 1965 Jaguar Mk 2, then you know it’s a good car. This 3.4-engined automatic was regularly serviced by our vendor, who then purchased the car in the 1980s from its original well-known Box Hill (Melbourne) jeweler owner. Today, it presents very nicely in dark green with tan (almost tabac) trim. Having been redone, its paintwork is lovely, as is its chrome, and the woodwork inside has been refurbished to match the high quality of the leather and matching carpets. It has the original period radio, sits on steel wheels with hubcaps (no wires here) and indicates 37,296 miles (at the time of cataloguing). The auto choke has been converted to manual and a stainless steel muffler and exhaust system is now fitted. The Mk 2 comes with an Owner’s manual, jack and tool kit. In short, this is a lovely car with nothing to do – other than that aforementioned repeater lens! – except enjoy what should be an easy and enjoyable classic to own. The 1965 Jaguar Mk 2 3.4 is being sold here unregistered.

Car returns to auction 3/26

www.lloydsonline.com.au/LotDetails.aspx&stypeid=0&kw=jaguar&cid=0&smode=0&lid=5765848

Auction description:

1965 Jaguar MK II finished in British Racing Green. Right-hand drive, rear-wheel drive, powered by the 3.4-litre twin-cam inline-six petrol engine with twin SU carburettors, paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Seating for four. Chassis No 167547BW, Engine No KJ56138. Located at Acacia Ridge, QLD.

This example presents in excellent condition throughout. The British Racing Green paint has real depth with strong gloss, the chrome is consistently bright across bumpers, grille, window surrounds, and door furniture. Inside, the tan leather is well preserved with the original pleated pattern intact and no splits. The burr walnut dashboard and door cappings are in genuinely good condition. The engine bay has been professionally cleaned and detailed, with twin SU carburettors confirmed correct for the 3.4L specification, along with several practical upgrades including braided stainless hoses and blue silicone HT leads.

The vendor advises several usability improvements have been made including near new tyres, alloy radiator, electric cooling fan, and power steering. These are the right kind of modifications on a 60-year-old car. Modern inertia reel seatbelts have also been fitted, which is sensible. The "GB" badge on the boot confirms UK origin. This is a well-sorted, usable classic in one of the best colour and interior combinations you can get on a MK II.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
