The Condition

Interior chrome trim and headlining in excellent condition

No visible faults or damage; presents beautifully inside and out

The overall condition of this 1962 Jaguar MK II is nothing short of remarkable. Inside, the luxurious cream leather upholstery, the rich wooden accents of the dashboard and door cappings, alongside the deep red carpeting, demonstrate perfectly why the Jaguar marque carries a reputation for sophisticated luxury. Externally, the maroon paintwork complements the car's long and elegant lines, while the brightwork and wire spoke wheels finish off the 60’s styling beautifully.

Whilst we have no documentation, it would appear from the fantastic condition and the mileage record that this car has been restored to an exacting standard. The presentation from the interior of the boot, to the beautiful wooden door cappings is excellent throughout. We might love all MK II Jag’s, but one in this condition, with this colour combination demonstrates just how gorgeous these cars can be.

The Mechanics

3,442cc straight-six engine

Manual gearbox with overdrive

Engine and engine bay present very well

Starts easily and idles smoothly

Sounds fantastic

The owner informs us that the car drives exactly as it should

The underside and all of the visible components appear to be in excellent condition

No mechanical issues reported by the current owner

Mechanically, this Jaguar MK II appears as sound as it is beautiful. The heart of this classic, a robust 3,442cc straight-six engine, coupled with a manual transmission and overdrive, ensures a driving experience that is engaging, refined and more than enough for modern roads. The car starts eagerly and settles into a smooth idle, hinting at the meticulous maintenance and care it has received.

The underside and all visible mechanical components appear to be in great condition, with the overall mechanical presentation of this car matching its aesthetic condition; simply superb. This Jaguar not only presents a wonderful driving experience but also stands as a testament to the enduring quality and appeal of classic British engineering.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
