Ebay item 4/1/21

www.ebay.com/itm/1961-Jaguar-Mark-II/313473208549

Current bid: $8,366 reserve price not met 13 bids 4 days left in auction seller silverstone-motorcars 60k miles car now said to be in North Andover, Massachusetts, previously Miami, FL

Seller's description:

THIS CAR IS PHYSICALLY LOCATED IN WALTHAM, MASSACHUSETTS *

This is a stunning example of the 1961 Jaguar MK2 Sedan that has been expertly restored by its current owner. The odometer reads 60,772 miles but essentially the car is new and in better condition than it was the day it originally left the factory.

This 1961 Jaguar MK2 is exceptional in every way and you will see from the gallery photographs that absolutely no expense was spared in completion of this project. From the $12,500 purchase of the original condition car in 2014, this project has taken years, considerable expense and masterful craftmanship that has resulted in this concours-level restoration. The restoration project itself is meticulously detailed all of which will be provided to the new owner of the car for their records. The current owner is selling this beautiful car as he is about to embark on a new time-sensitive project opportunity.

This car runs and drives beautifully, the performance of the 2.4 liter engine is excellent (it has a light-weight aluminum flywheel with a 3.8 clutch to mitigate initial torque difference versus the larger engine) and at national events, concours judges in the US seem to like the relatively rare 2.4. The gearbox is smooth and responsive and the overdrive works as designed.

In terms of Jaguar national shows, there might be potential point reductions for the following:

- Not original radio - replaced with modern digital entertainment unit with Bluetooth, backup camera, etc. housed in the original frame but with non-fabric finish.

- Completely new electrical system to replace the horrible original! Includes a modern fuse box that looks almost like the original Lucas box.

- Completely re-designed electronic heater with original housing, but the control value is modern.

- Brass radiator top instead of black paint; easy to change if desired.

- Modern hose clamps instead of Cheney ones, the Cheney clamps do not work well; easily changed if desired

- Spare tire not the same brand as mounted tires; an easy change if desired

Other than the above, this is as close to a national concours winner as we believe one will find anywhere. Low, Curved and Exciting, the bodywork of the MK2 Series is iconic and this specific car is in rare condition. If you are a serious Jaguar collector this is a car that you can not afford to let pass you by. We can arrange to ship this car worldwide so if you are interested, call today to discuss a purchase

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
