This 196o Jaguar Mk II was sold new in Jidosha, Japan, and was acquired by the seller in 1976 in Illinois. The car is finished in black over brown upholstery and is powered by a 2.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a floor shifter, a push-button AM radio, a stainless-steel exhaust system, 15″ steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, driving lights, burl wood trim on the dashboard and doors, and fold-down rear trays. The twin carburetors were overhauled, the fuel filter was replaced, and the brake fluid flushed in June 2022. This Mk II project is now offered with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, a fire extinguisher, a tire iron, spare parts, service records, and a clean Kansas title in the seller’s name.
The car was finished from the factory in black and was repainted circa 1980. Features include a Jaguar leaper hood ornament, a left fender mirror, driving lights, removable fender skirts, chrome trim, and bumpers with overriders. The seller notes paint scratches and blemishes, and states that the horn and driver-side rear door handle are nonfunctional.
Body-color 15” steel wheels wear Jaguar-branded hubcaps and are mounted with 205/70 Douglas Xtra-Trac A/W tires showing 2001 date codes. Stopping is handled by four-wheel disc brakes that were overhauled in 2011 and the fluid was flushed in June 2022. The seller states that the front suspension system should be overhauled.
Finished from the factory in red, the interior was refinished in brown Naugahyde with matching door panels and carpets under current ownership. Equipment includes a center console with a floor shifter as well as vent windows and lap belts. The two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a wood dashboard housing a 120-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock. Auxiliary gauges are found in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 66k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The seller states that the tachometer functions intermittently.
Wooden tables fold out of the front seatbacks for the rear seat occupants.
The 2.4-liter inline-six was factory rated at 120 horsepower and 143 lb-ft of torque and is equipped with a stainless-steel exhaust system and an under-hood starter button. Ignition components were replaced in 2011, and in June 2022 the twin downdraft carburetors were overhauled and the fuel filter was replaced by AJ’s Import Garage of Topeka, Kansas. The seller notes that the motor mounts should be replaced and that the fuel tank has debris in it and should be removed and cleaned or replaced.
The number BG33498 stamped on the engine matches the corresponding number on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate seen below. A photo showing the body number can be viewed in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Moss four-speed manual transmission. The seller notes corrosion on the undercarriage.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust (JDHC) certificate indicates a March 1960 build date and the factory colors as well as chassis, body, engine, and gearbox numbers.
A fire extinguisher, a tire iron, a JDHT certificate, spare parts, and service records are included in the sale.
