Auction description:
Lot number 22
Hammer value £2,100
Description Jaguar Mk2 2.4 MoD
Registration EOL 599C
Year 1965
Colour Dark Blue
Engine size 2,348 cc
Chassis No. 119348 DN

First registered in October 1965, this Mk2 2.4 manual overdrive car has been in the same ownership for the last 23 years. The owner was intending to fully restore it on his retirement but, with an E-Type also waiting to be restored, he has reluctantly concluded that he will never finish both so this one has to go to help fund the other.

The engine has been taken out as it had a cracked block and a replacement unit was sourced and rebuilt though it is not yet fitted. The original block is also included in the sale and should be fairly easy to repair if desired. Every part to rebuild the car is believed to be present including the exhaust, interior trim and gearbox. Many photos were taken as the engine was removed and these are also included to assist the buyer with refitting it if necessary. The car is said to be fundamentally very sound and should make a nice, straightforward winter project for someone.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
