Car to be at auction 3/18
www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2018-03-03/cars/ref-135-1962-jaguar-mk-ii-24 ...

Auction description:
Ascot Racecourse
March 3rd 2018
1962 Jaguar Mk. II (2.4 litre)
Lot Number 327
Registration 837 UYX
Chassis Number 113326BW
Engine Number BH7387-8
Odometer reading 77,792 miles
Estimate £11,000 - £15,000

This Jaguar Mk. II was despatched from Browns Lane on 8th August 1962 and shipped to Brysons in Australia. She spent all of her life in Australia before being repatriated to the UK in 2017. The Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms this to be a genuine righthand drive example and is also matching numbers. Our inspection confirmed this to be a very sound Mk. II showing no significant signs of corrosion or having had any major repair. The gunmetal paintwork is cracked a little in places, presumably from spending too many years in the sun. The red leather trim is in good order and we can only describe this 2.4 litre Jaguar as being a genuine perfectly useable example. She is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 8th October 2018.

Car returned to auction 6/18

Auction description:
British Heritage, Classic and Sports Cars - Sandown Park Race Course
Tue 5th Jun 20181962 Jaguar MK2
Lot 113
First Registered: 1962
Registration No: 837 UYX
Mileometer: 78,000
Chassis No:
113326BW
MOT: October 2018
Colour: Grey

This Jaguar was exported from the Coventry factory on the 8th August 1962, to Brysons, Australia. There is a Jaguar Heritage Certificate that records the original colour as Gunmetal Grey and Red interior. For many years the car was owned in Melbourne by a member (now deceased) Jaguar Car Club of Victoria who used it sparingly mainly on Club events .The engine and transmission were overhauled in 2014. The car is in fine order for its age, it has the original Radio that works, and has never has any damage or rust problems, the underneath of the car is like new. The engine has good oil pressure when hot of 40/45 psi, but could do with tune up. There is slight cracking on paint work due to hot climate, which is as you would expect. This is exceptional value for a rust free Jaguar Mk2.

Guide Price: £7,500 to £10,000

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
